I am Shelby Lucas, the Panhellenic Vice President over Recruitment. I am looking forward to recruitment this fall so much! The Gamma Chi’s, chapters, and myself have been hard at work to make this experience one of a kind for you. I hope that you’re looking forward to this memorable weekend as much as I am! I’d love to share my experience in what being in a sorority has given me. When I came to IUS, I learned very quickly that if you didn’t get involved in something you would get caught up in the routine of going to class, back to your lodge and go home every weekend so I started looking into my options. I am constantly trying to better myself, take advantage of every opportunity and find a way to give back. I found this and so much more in being a sorority woman. I found a group of girls who would cheer me on during the good times in my life and would support me through the bad, I found a group of woman who were giving back to their philanthropy and finding ways to give back in the community, I found a group that I really fit in with. In all of these, I found my home. Now I look forward every year (this is my second year on the Panhellenic side of recruitment) to helping new women find their forever home and a group of women that supports them the way that my chapter supports me!
To the girl who’s counting down the days to recruitment, I PROMISE I’M JUST AS EXCITED AS YOU ARE! To the girl who doesn’t think Greek Life is for her, how do you know until you try? To the girl who’s afraid she won’t fit in, I was you and look where I’m at now!
Going Greek has been the best opportunity that I’ve ever taken advantage of!
Lots of Greek Love,
Panhellenic VP of Recruitment
Hey yall! I'm Bre Jaggers and I'm the Vice President of Membership for Sigma Kappa.
When I first came to college, I contemplated going Greek because I wasn't sure what it was and what all it entailed. Looking back now, I question why I ever second guessed myself about it because it was the best decision I have ever made. Sigma Kappa has given me so many things to be thankful for. I have found sisters that I can confide in, sisters I can call at 3am that will be there for me, sisters that respect me and sisters that love me for my goofy, weird and crazy personality. Not only has Sigma Kappa blessed me with such amazing women in my life but I have had the opportunity to serve as the Vice President of Membership(the person who plans recruitment). I have gained so many leadership skills such as public speaking, organization, time management and helping lead others. I have been able to mentor some amazing women and help them through their journey of Sigma Kappa and college.
Not only has Sigma Kappa pushed me to be a better woman and leader but the Panhellenic community at IUS is fantastic. It amazes me that the men and women at this small campus can make such a huge difference. It's so hard to explain the sorority experience until you are actually a part of it but I can say that it is remarkable and 100% worth it. I am so thankful I chose Sigma Kappa because I have created such a unique bond with spectacular women and Sigma Kappa is and will always be my home.
Go Greek, you won't regret it!
